News: Mail Center Gets Stamp with new Click-N-Ship Service

Click-N-Ship is coming to the Spelman College Mail Center on March 17 at 10 a.m. The USPS and Spelman College have joined together to provide campus postal customers with the web-based postal service for express and priority mail. “Click-N-Ship helps us for personal and campus mail service,” said Larry Barnes, manager, Postal Operations. “This will help the students get better services, as well as faculty and staff to do personal mail. This is beneficial because it’s dealing with individual accounts,” he explained.

The Internet service will allow users to weigh packages and purchase postage in the lobby of the Mail Center. Also, the USPS is providing a storage table to hold postal, packing supplies and a scale. Another table will be equipped with a computer to access the on-line service, where customers may complete postage transactions. To enhance the Mail Center’s aesthetics, the USPS is donating portraits of five famous Black women: Mary McCloud, Hattie McDaniel, Madame C. J. Walker, Marian Anderson and Patricia Roberts Harris.

The Spelman College Mail Center, located in the Manley College Center adjacent to the campus bookstore, offers out-going mail services via the United States postal Services (USPS). It can also arrange pick-ups by United Parcel Service (UPS) and Federal Express (FedEx).

Mission

The Spelman College Mail Center provides accurate cost-effective services, including the receipt and distribution of correspondence to the College community. The Mail Center also acts as the College's liaison with the United States Postal Service, United Parcel Service, Airborne Express, Federal Express, DHL, RPS, and other domestic and international couriers.

Mail Security

Spelman College Mail Center makes every effort to ensure the safe delivery of mail to and from the campus. Therefore, only the Mail Center personnel is allowed in the mail processing area and around mail processing equipment. Mail Center personnel must accompany other individuals requiring entry into the area. This procedure safeguards mail from potential tampering.
