The Office of Housing and Residence Life is a unit in the Division of Student Affairs responsible for general operations and administration of housing, residential education, and living and learning programs. The residence halls at Spelman College are historical and the aesthetic character of the buildings helps our students to develop a sense of community on campus.
The majority of the 11 residence halls on campus are traditional, double occupancy rooms with standard furniture and amenities. Singles, triples and quad style living options are also available. The newest residence hall is the Suites which are apartments with a standard kitchen and bathroom and private bedrooms designed for upperclass students. Each residence hall offers a computer lab and study lounges as part of the integration of learning.
Each of our residence halls offers opportunities for students to meet people from diverse backgrounds and cultures and to develop a sense of community within their own building. Our residence halls are staffed with Area Directors and Resident Assistants who live on each floor and work diligently to support students in all aspects of their college lives. The Resident Assistants are paraprofessional staff encourage student engagement on campus. A variety of innovative and creative, social, educational and cultural programs are provided to support the personal, social, academic and emotional development of Spelman students.
